You never know what you might spot driving through Indiana. You just need to know where to look — like toward the sky. Lisa James didn’t see a bird, a plane or a speeding locomotive, like from the old “Superman” TV series fame, but instead she saw an old Farmall tractor hooked to a vintage 1950s Allis-Chalmers small round-bale baler.
She had a little help knowing where to look. Her brother-in-law Joe James mounted the equipment on top of two semi containers.
“He just thought it would be cool to put them up there,” Lisa reports. “He figured all the grandkids would get a big kick out of it.”
According to Lisa, he figured right. Other people are enjoying it, too. If you want to see it in person, head just west of Spiceland in Henry County, Ind. Go to the corner of S425W and W600S. And look up!
If you happen to drive by at night in a few weeks, you might even see lights illuminating the equipment. Lisa says Joe is excited about Christmas, and if all goes well, he plans on putting up Christmas lights on and around the farm tools of yesteryear.
