This innovative conservation farmer opens the door to let everyone see what he does on his farm.

Whether you’ve been no-tilling with cover crops and are wondering, “What’s next?” or you’re just starting out with cover crops, don’t miss the second biennial field day at Clark Land and Cattle Co. The event is slated for Aug. 28 at 563 South U.S. Highway 41 near Williamsport, Ind.

The field day was postponed from June due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Rick Clark is ready to share what he does on his farm. The official title of the field day provides insight into how much Clark is ready to share: “Clark Farms: Regenerative Systems Deconstructed.”

When the first field day was held at his farm two years ago, Clark demonstrated planting green into cover crops and crimping a rye cover crop. He has moved much further into sustainable agriculture since then. Demonstrations are scheduled to be part of this year’s event, weather permitting.

The field day has special sponsors, including the Big Pine Creek Watershed and The Nature Conservancy. Leslie Fisher, who coordinates the Big Pine Creek Watershed Project, says representatives of both large, regional and local agricultural companies will be on hand, and some representatives are scheduled to be involved in panel discussions during the field day.

Several procedures will be in place to protect guests against COVID-19, including social distancing and wearing masks. Registration is required if you wish to attend the field day in person. Register for the field day at farmgreen.land/field-day. If you have questions or problems registering, contact Rachel Clark-Carpenter at rachel@farmgreen.land or 765-585-7232.

The program gets off to an early start, with registration beginning at 7 a.m. EDT and the kickoff at 8 a.m. The program should conclude by 1 p.m.

Plans also call for delivering a virtual experience if you can’t attend the field day in person. Mitchell Hora and Continuum Ag will host the field day virtually. For information on the virtual event, visit the website or contact Clark-Carpenter.
